Project Description

Caesalpinia pulcherrima: Dwarf Poinciana Tree

-Light Exposure: Full Sun – Part Sun
-Water Req: Moderate
-Height: 8 – 12 ft.
-Growth Rate: Fast

The Dwarf Poinciana Tree is a spectacular ornamental accent tree that consists of fern like foliage with strikingly beautiful reddish-orange flowers that appear throughout the warm months in South Florida. A fast grower, the Dwarf Poinciana Tree is moderately drought and salt tolerant once established. Plant 4 feet or more away from house. The young trees have thorns on the branches, so avoid areas where this would be a hazard. These thorns disappear as the tree maturesĀ  For best appearance, fertilize 3 times a year (spring, summer and fall ) with a quality granular fertilizer. To encourage better blooms supplement feedings with bone meal.
