Cocoplum is a native, low maintenance shrub that is very popular in South Florida landscapes due to its high tolerance for salt and wind. New leaves are red in color which give it a distinctive appearance in comparison with other common hedges. It produces small, white flowers in the spring, followed by red berries that are edible by both animals and humans. Although it can grow to be up to 16 ft, it is usually kept at 4 -6 ft in residential and commercial landscapes. Cocoplum makes a beautiful hedge and privacy screen.
