Carissa is a dense, evergreen shrub with beautiful deep green foliage. Carissa varieties include Emerald Blanket, Boxwood Beauty, and Natal Plum. Emerald blanket stays the smallest out of the 3 by staying at around 1 – 1.5 ft making an ideal ground cover. Boxwood Beauty can be kept at around 3 feet and forms a nice mounded shrub with its compact foliage.

Natal Plum, the larger variety, produces fragrant white flowers throughout the year as well as edible, plum-shaped berries. Due to and abundance of thorns, use caution when selecting a location for the Boxwood Beauty and Natal Plum.
